Brownie Girl is an 18 month old Labrador Mix. She is a gentle lady who weighs approximately 50 pounds. She has been with her foster parents for two weeks now and has done a great job getting settled in.
Brownie Girl was surrendered from her past owners due to additional family members having to move into the home and were fearful of dogs. Brownie Girl would love to settle into a true forever home.
The first 24 hours went well as Brownie Girl quickly fell into the routine and bonded with new resident dog and foster dog that had joined her old foster home while she was gone.
Brownie Girl does well in her crate. Foster Mom and Dad have left her in the crate at night. Foster mom is generally home during the day, Brownie Girl will remain in her crate without whining or barking even if she can hear Foster Mom in the house working. Foster Mom has a towel in the crate for Brownie Girl to cuddle with while she is in her crate. The radio is also left on when foster parents are away.
Brownie Girl loves to be around her foster parents and will do best with a family willing to spend a fair amount of time with her. Brownie Girl loves attention but does not demand attention. Brownie Girl follows her foster parents from room to room but is never underfoot.
She will be a gentle and relaxed dog with regular exercise. Brownie Girl loves to run after balls and at times will catch balls and Frisbees in midair, much to her Foster Parents delight. Brownie Girl is an amazing runner and loves to run laps around her Foster parents’ yard with her foster brothers chasing after her. Foster Dad has trained Brownie Girl to walk on the treadmill; she can walk a 10 minute mile! Foster Dad has also rollerbladed with her, which she loves. Brownie Girl also walks very well on the leash.
Brownie Girl has been trained to do basic commands. Foster Mom and Dad have found that she can be sensitive, so a firm but gentle hand is necessary with her.
Brownie Girl does great with the commands of Sit, Leave It, Crate, Come, Stay, Fetch, and off.

Brownie Girl was surrendered from her past owners due to allergies. However, Foster Mom has asthma and pet allergies and has not had any problems with Brownie Girl. Brownie Girl eats high quality dog food, is brushed regularly, and was given a bath with an allergen reducing shampoo to help with this.
The first 24 hours were pretty eventful with our resident dog being jealous with Brownie Girl in the home. Not to mention Foster Dad accidentally cut her nail too short. Brownie Girl handled the nail trimming incident very well. All of her nails are now properly trimmed. Brownie Girl also had some difficulty eating at first, but Foster Mom and Dad found that adding some water to her food solved the problem.
Brownie Girl does pretty well in her crate. Foster Mom and Dad have left her in the crate when they were at work and at night. Brownie Girl sometimes whines but Foster Mom discovered that putting a towel in the crate calms her down. The radio is also left on when foster parents are away.
