WE NEED YOU!

Volunteers are critical to the success of St. Francis. There are many ways you can volunteer that take as little or as much time as you want.

Better yet, come visit our pets at adoption days!!!

 Foster Parents
We are always looking for responsible foster parents to care for our animals. Most of our animals come to us in need of TLC and we provide them with a loving foster home to be sure they receive it. Sometimes we have a shy dog that needs to socialized, an orphaned litter of kittens that need to be bottle fed or an expectant mama that needs a quiet place to have her kittens. Our foster parents are supplied with everything they need to care for one of our animals. Food, bedding, leashes, litter pans, you name it. St. Francis provides all medical care. All you have to do is provide a caring, loving household.

Dog Handlers
As a volunteer dog handler, you will be trained on how to hold a dog during our Adoption Day events. The Adoption Day is the perfect place to show off the dog you're handling and introduce him to prospective owners. Generally a dog handler is scheduled to attend one adoption day each month (but you can attend more if you wish)! During the Adoption Day dog handlers are responsible for interacting with their dog. You may want to teach the dog how to sit, take the opportunity to groom him and, of course, just plain love him up. We try to match every volunteer with a dog they are comfortable with.  And for the younger teens, if you are under sixteen years of age you need to volunteer with an adult.

Animal Transporters
An Animal Transport volunteer does just that. They transport animals. Our dogs and cats need to be picked up from animal control facilities, taken to veterinarian appointments, delivered to foster homes, transported to Adoption  Days...you get the idea. Every once in a while we need a transporter who is willing to meet other rescue groups to deliver or receive animals. St. Francis partners with many organizations to help assure that all homeless pets have a safe place to stay. T

Fundraisers

If you aren't able to foster an animal or commit to helping each month with an adoption day, you may want to consider helping with one of our many fundraising events.  We can use just about any type of help – from planning and organizing – to advertising – to set up, participation and clean up at the event – to generating ideas for new activities.
